* DESCRIPTION *The "Skulpturenweg" (sculpture path) is located in a small forest called "Leywald" southeast of Reinach. It is a great walk to do with kids. They will love to go on and find the next sculpture. The large kugel Bahn has balls supplied but you might want to take a few marbles you don't mind loosing to send through the castle.
It opened in Spring 2005 when 10 artists created 12 wooden carvings. In spring 2008 another 12 sculptures were added, the following year four, and finally another set of 18 sculptures in 2011. This currently sums up to 46 wooden sculptures by 22 different artists. All the sculptures are related to fairy tales. The path has a length of about 600 meters along and through the forest. The sculpture path is run and maintained by Bürgergemeinde Reinach (a specifically Swiss type of statutory corporation). They also provide a detailed map of the area and a illustrated list of all the sculptures on their web site. The beauty on the sculpture trail - nature trail tour is that there is no entrance fee and you can come and go as you like. You can do everything without a break in about an hour run. Or if you'd like to take longer than an hour then bring a picnic and BBQ supplies because it has two cozy barbecues on the road. The first one (with fire place, firewood, with three tables, benches and garbage bins) can be reached after about 40 minutes. The second about five minutes later (no tables, only benches). Really great to grill your sausages or Slangenbrot. |
